Back by popular demand, Rose Hutchins’s The Little Mermaid returns following its sold-out 2024 premiere in Portland, Maine. This 2 PM performance features a special abbreviated and narrated version created especially for children. Featuring original music by Evan Hart Marsh, this contemporary reimagining brings Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved story to life through expressive dance, theatrical storytelling, and moments of humor and heart. Audiences of all ages are invited to dive into an enchanting tale of love, sacrifice, and transformation.
The Little Mermaid was funded in part by New England Foundation for the Arts’ New England Dance Fund, with generous support from the Aliad Fund at the Boston Foundation.
Advisory:
Contains brief flashing lights, water-based fog, dramatic moments, fairytale-style stakes with implied peril, and theatrical use of a prop knife (non-graphic).
Abbreviated, Narrated Ballet (Saturday 2 PM): Approximately 1 hour, followed by a brief meet-and-greet with characters from the show, $30
